It’s 3:00 am. I’m taking a break from packing for our trip up to New York to see our families for the holidays. We leave in three hours. Hey, there’s plenty of time…why not blog?!
Recently, I’ve been on a workout kick. And those of you who know me know that that is way out of the ordinary. I said to my husband, “God, I love the gym!” He said that he never thought in a million years that I would utter those words in that sequence in the same sentence. Well, times they are a-changin’, mister. Now, it’s all about monitoring the heart rate, and working in zones, and small healthy meals, and resistance training, and yoga, and body combat classes, and personal training…!
Heather is my personal trainer, and she rocks! Her gorgeous girls were in town visiting their fabulous mom, and I was honored to be able to capture their fun and loving relationship! Here’s just one from our session. (I mean it is 3am and I still have to figure out how the heck I’m going to fit everything in the car! help!)
So happy holidays and new year to all! See you in 2011!

This fantastic (not to mention patient, kind and understanding!) family slipped through the blog cracks…here’s one from when it was still balmy outside. (Though it is still freakishly warm here. I raked the leaves in a tank top today!)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, L and your beautiful family!

I had so much fun shooting this gorgeous family! The girls were adorably cute and loved the camera, and vice versa! Thank you vT family!

Please forgive me; these posts are all over the place! There’s no rhyme or reason–well, one reason: to rest my eyes from all this late night editing. The black and white of these words are a welcome respite from tint & temperature and vibrance & saturation, etc. & etc…
This yummy baby boy entered this world only last month, and already he has first-time parents who look like they’ve been doing this for years! It was a pleasure spending the morning capturing their enormous love for each other. Their family is beautiful inside and out!

I loved our house from the moment I saw it. It was old, dusty, and had the most hideous wall paper imaginable, but it was easy to look past all that to its soul. And it has a good one. Sadly, we discovered that we are not the fixer upper types and have made the difficult decision to move on. We have contracts ratified and still have to go through all that real estate transaction rigmarole. So this darling, yellow house, where my kids have spent their “entire” lives, will be ours till the end of the year. Yesterday, I opened the mailbox and found this wonderfully thoughtful gift from my friend Maggie! She had it made by a friend specially for my daughter, who loves penguins. The house in the background is ours. It brought tears to my eyes; this necklace will be cherished forever! Thank you, Maggie! and to your friend, Susannah!

I need to go to blog school. Bloggers, I salute you–your committment, your words, your creativity. (Someone help me, please!)
So here’s a peek for the W fam! I apologize for clients who haven’t been blogged yet. I am playing catch up. Speaking of which, I had quite a workout trying to catch up with little G! whew, he’s fast. His older, three-year-old brother was more accommodating for (or took pity on!) me. For that I thank him. What gorgeous boys!

*MINI-SESSION UPDATE: I’ve added another day, November 13th. Email me if you are interested! See last post for details.

oh, poor neglected blog! helloo-lo-lo-lo…there must be an echo in here! Apologies to my recent clients who haven’t had their peeks, well, in this case, their post-peeks. eek!
Halloween is almost here, then comes Thanksgiving, and then–holy cr*p!–Christmas. Yup, if you are coming late to the game, I’m your woman. With Life (with a capital L) getting in the way of life, I have been remiss in officially getting the word out about the mini-session. I marked it down in my calendar for Saturday, November 6, but, duh, you have to tell people about it, silly. So here’s the low down:
Mini-sessions on Saturday NOV 6 at my house in Falls Church (zip 22043). Price is $195 and will include:
- 30-45 minute family session, with up to 5 people (pets welcome!)
- 10-15 proofs made available for view in a private online gallery
- ownership of 3 high resolution jpeg images (for those holiday cards!)
We can do your family pics in the bucolic setting amidst my overgrown garden and/or a classic white or black background. Sessions will begin every hour on the hour from 9am to 5pm. Email me at jacielee[at]gmail.com to reserve your time (give me your first and second choice, please). I will send you a confirmation and additional details. First come, first served. Rain date will be the following weekend, November 13.
I’m looking forward to it!

The photo above was taken at the market fair at Claude Moore Colonial Farm! I love that period stuff!

Yes, I believe that apples do not fall far from the tree, but they do–at times–drop quite a way from each other. I know age may be a factor, but this is a simple illustration of their differences. The haphazardly-bitten apple on the left is Q’s, and the diligently-teeth-carved one is his big-sister Zoe’s (who has a facebook page, btw
).

We are on vacay starting this Friday until August 8, off to see family and friends up in NYC and New Hampshire! And speaking of apples, which remind me of Fall–I have a limited number of weekend sessions available this upcoming season. I will be adding Tuesday morning sessions starting in September for those of you with more flexible schedules. See you on the otherside of relaxation!

I have had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous family since baby girl A was in Mommy’s belly. She has already grown so much since I first met her when she was a wee newborn, and her big brother A has matured into an ever more handsome little man who is so loving and attentive to his little sis. I enjoyed spending the time with you on a beautiful spring morning. Thanks again!
